Murray High Rugby alumni Game 2011

Let go all the way back to Memorial Weekend

Ty played rugby in high school 

and every year during memorial weekend

they have a alumni rugby game

And this is Ty's second year playing in it

It is so much fun to watch him play

Especially because I didn't know

Ty back in high school

Maddux liked to watch for the first half

but then he started getting restless so we went over on the side of the field

and watched from over there so he could roam around a bit

I love this picture 

They all look so tough

and yes only tough men wear short shorts :)

On memorial day we went to Ty's parents house

for a BBQ 

and then roasted marshmallows,

and made smores

While everyone was talking and 

huddling around the camp fire 

We decided to give Maddux a run at the tramp

He loved it and so did I

cuz I got really good snuggles and smiles

Our Family Summer Fun List 2011 & Shaved Ice

So My mom has been doing this really fun

Summer fun list idea for a few years now and thought

now that we had our little Maddux 

it would be fun to do our own

So I made an Ulrich Family Summer Fun list for 2011

I didn't start it until last week

I know I know summer started a month ago

but for our family summer didn't start until last week

because that is when Ty took his final

finishing his summer class

So now we get to play
and start summer

yay!

I came across a really fun list idea on this blog 

and pinned it here to remember
(If you don't know what pinterest is read about it here)

They put their list on a chalkboard

and I thought hello that is so cute and fun

and I could totally do that

So I did

I was going to get chalkboard paint and create my own from a frame

but I found this already made one at hobby lobby for $7

for the same price as the paint and

this way I had a lot less work to do

So of course I chose that option

But of course I had to paint it 

It has got to be cute right :)

I painted it red because I am puting it near our

red and black kitchen

and then when our summer fun list is complete 

I am going to put it in Maddux's room

for him to color on

Cute huh?!

And here it is complete 

painted, pretty, with the whole list and all

I put the boxes next to each activity and when

they are completed I color them in

oh and I got the colored chalk for like 88 cents at hobby lobby too

I am going to take pictures of all of our activities

and document about some them

Since this is like a journal for our family

It will be so fun to look back and read all about what we did this summer

So on Thursday July, 14th

(Ty's last day of school) 

to celebrate him being done with his final

we started it off with the first thing on our list

"Family Walk to Italian Ice Shack"

There is a Dans Grocery store just right outside of our neighborhood

And it has a shaved ice shack in the parking lot

so that evening after dinner 

we got Maddux in his stroller and started our walk

got these yummies

and sat on the lawn enjoying every second

of the amazing weather and each other

I got the cheesecake flavor with cream on top

this one does the cream for free

and let me tell you it is AMAZING

you will never want one plain again after you try it I promise 

Ty got the Black Raspberry flavor with Cream on top
This one was super yummy
I tried some too

And we both shared with little Dux :)

He cracks me up!

He is totally eye balling my shaved ice

I can see it in his eyes :)

Maddux LOVES to point 

and he loves balls and says ball all the time

What a boy!

In this picture he saw a balloon that was hooked to

the shaved ice shack and he was going crazy he wanted it so bad

I seriously have the cutest baby in the whole world

I mean look at him!

Please mom please can I have the ball

(This is totally what he was thinking I mean look at that face haha)

Sorry baby I cant reach it 

But you can have more treat

Speaking of saying please

Maddux knows the sign language for please and it is adorable

when we say "Maddux say please" he does it

He is so smart

And sometimes if he sees us with something he wants

he will just do the sign on his own

I LOVE watching him learn

Ok I'll take some of that

and i'll have some more and more and more

He loves these

He had so much sugar that night

But he still slept great

I have the best little sleeper 

Man I'm spoiled

and I swear sugar doesn't even affect him

He's got a sweet tooth like him momma

Me and Ty

We have so much fun together

especially on simple evenings

going on walks, sitting on the lawn, chatting and snackin on some icy goodness

Now that is summer right there

Then when we were done hangin out for a while

We walked back home

PERFECT!

Our 4th of July

Ty, Maddux and I headed up to Syracuse on Sunday

to my parents

for our family Sunday dinner, hang out time

and we slept over so we wouldn't have to drive back 

for all the 4th festivities

Sunday night we roasted some marshmallows

and hung out outside 

on the porch in the beautiful weather 

and surrounded by my mom's pretty porch lights

Then of course the next day was the 4th

The fourth is a HUGE deal to our little fam!

I LOVE the fourth it is one of my favorite 

holidays next to Christmas

I love the warmth, the carnivals, parades, 

fireworks, BBQs and family time

I hope to pass along mine and Ty's love of the 4th 

onto Maddux and all our future children

We started the day off with going to the Layton Parade

My dad and the boys went and staked out a spot 

the night before

This parade gets so stinkin crowded you have to or you don't get a spot

and we got a good one :)

Maddux started off watching the parade in his stroller

but got way too excited and just had to get a little 

closer to the action

It was so fun for me to watch him get so excited 

about EVERYTHING

After the parade my brother Adam 

met up with us 

and we all took a short walk 

from our parade spot to the carnival

looked through all the booths and 

ate some carnival food for lunch

Cute little M kept trying to steal Adams chips

And Adam just loves him so he let him :)

They are great buddies

Everyone was so into their conversations

my cute mom was the only one ready for the picture 

and so cute she is :)

We played a game and won some cute tiny water frogs

Each of the kids got one

and Ty won one for Maddux :)

This is my cute brother Zach he was very excited

Do you see how stink adorable those froggys are?!

We named ours pistencup (from cars)

(long story...but it is kinda after our nephew Max

that wanted us to name Maddux Pistencup)

And of course I got a glitter tattoo

I get an airbrush every carnival 

we go to

After some carnival fun

it was nap time

Maddux was up from 7 am 

(he usually doesn't wake up until 10)

to 2pm and he was exhausted!

1. He fell asleep in the car on the way to my parents

We tried to keep him up because he was poopy but

he was not having it he was soooo tired

So we took him out of the car

Stayed asleep (that never happens)
 2. brought him up stairs 

3. and changed his poopy diaper 

Stayed asleep the whole time

(never happens)

4. laid him down in the port-a-crib

and he slept until about 6ish

Maddux wasn't the only one exhausted

After some naps, and some preparing

it was time for our yummy 4th 

BBQ dinner

Delish right?!

Hamburgers, fruit, dip, pistachio salad 

(I will share that recipe on here soon)

with some festive cupcakes my mom made

of course :)

in my red cup with my old fashioned

red and white paper straw :)

PERFECT 

I tell ya!

Maddux loved the food

but his favorite was the corn

And yes this was his very first 

corn on the cob experience 

and he was an absolute PRO at it

First he pretended it was a motorcycle

Like he does with everything 

using it as a throttle 

making the vroom vroom noise

He is such a BOY! 

haha

and then he took a bite and never

looked back 

Ahhh he is just so stinkin cute 

I could squish and kiss those little

cheeks all day long

oh wait!

I do!

I am so LUCKY!

After dinner  we got to see this cute face

and her brother

and mom and dad

My brother, sister in law,

Parker and Ella came over to hang out for a bit

they live in Cedar so we love to 

hang out and see them any chance we get

it was quite relaxing

well until I almost tipped over

whole fam trying to save my hair from getting wet

(I didn't want to have to redo it haha and we were

leaving for fireworks in like a half hour

you ladies understand right)

Hey but at least they all got a good laugh out of it

I have to admit it was pretty funny

4th of July 2011

Then we were off to Layton Park 

for the firework show

We had saved a spot with our blankets and chairs 

when we were there earlier so we had a preemo 

and comfy spot

He wasn't even a tiny bit scared
He kept clapping and pointing 
every time a new one came up

He watched some on mommy's lap
and some on daddy's
loving every second
I wish they could have lasted forever
for him!
