I am so proud of our gymnasts and they were so frustrating exciting and fun to watch. I am getting excited for the individual event competition. The United States Women's Gymnastics team won the silver metal and China won the Gold. I was so hoping that we would win the gold again and we were so close. It has been since the magnificent seven in the 96 olympics since the team won the Gold. I remember that so clearly and I can't believe I was only 9 when that happened. But I am so happy that they won the silver. They are such a cute group of girls and so stinkin talented. I know they make it look easy but believe me they have busted their little butts their whole gymnastics career to look the way they do out there.
Thursday Night Ty and I watched the All-Around Women's Gymnastics Competition. It was a rollercoaster and it didn't turn out the way I thought it would or the way I would have hoped but it still turned out really good.
Little Shawn Johnson is my favorite gymnast from the 2008 Beijing olympics. I don't know what it is about this 4 foot 9 girl but I can't take my eyes off of her when she is out there competing. She has beautiful lines and she is always smiling. She is having fun out there. With all of the stress and pressure she is still smiling and loving what she knows best and has worked for her whole life. Shawn had the highest All-around in the Olympic trials and I felt like America was so lucky to have her in China to represent Gymnastics and the United States. So far she has earned her silver in the team competition and last night she won her second olympic silver in the All Around cometition and she was only six tenths from Gold. Her floor routine at the end of the competition was AMAZING! I can't wait to see what she will win in the individual events.
Nastia Liukin is the other top gymnast from the United States this year. Last night she was a great representation of the United States taking the All-Around Gold Medal! She is also going to do great in the individuals. Make us proud girls.
